The streets in the mid-1800s

  • North Street (where the road crosses the tracks by Hogue's house)
  • Adams Street (where the County House is now) crossed the creek here.
    • On the far bank was the Hammondsville Company Mill & Brick Works
    • At the end where the County House is now, was Wallace Brick Yard
  • Washington Street (where the road for the Heights crosses the creek now)
  • South Street (at the extreme south end of what was then Main Street) crossed both the creek and the railroad.
  • Our Main Street now [1950], does not extend down this far.
  • Clinton and Short Streets connected with South on the other side of the tracks.
