Hotel

This hotel, built in 1852, was first known as the Downer House, later it was owned by Wallace, Robenson, Patterson, and Lawrence.

 

 

 

 

The hotel burned in 1932 (below).

1936 Flood

The picture above was taken from the bridge, the one below from the railroad. The flood occurred in March.

The store was operated by Paisley Brothers at this time. It had been Madden's, and then Parsons' before this. It was destroyed by fire in 1944.




1936 Flood

Also in March 1936, a large ice jam occured in Big Yellow Creek. This picture shows Sprague's house which is near the bridge. Mary Sprague, who has been an invalid for over 50 years, was taken to safety to the School House.
